For years, June through August in Sarasota was the pause. Restaurants closed for a week, snowbirds flew north, and the calendar thinned out. That framing no longer fits what's on the ground.
Look at the past ninety days. A dozen retail and restaurant additions have been announced at University Town Center, a Sarasota institution has come back from the dead on North Washington, fifty-five kitchens extended their prix fixe menus past the official festival, and the Historic Asolo Theater is running a circus five days a week through August. The season isn't slow. It's just organized differently, and the center of gravity has quietly shifted north.
If you drove out to UTC once a season and haven't been in a while, the strip along North Cattlemen has changed under you.
